Fees/Adoption Policies/Guidelines
Our adoption fees are as follows:
Puppies up to 1 year- $650
For a dog under the age of 8 - $550
Dogs 8 years old and up - $275
We are located on Long Island, NY and generally adopt out dogs in the Long Island/NY Metro Area (approximately 60 mile radius).
If you feel that a Rescued Retriever is what you and your family are looking for, NYSRR would love to help make that dream come. After you’ve viewed our adoptable dogs, you should fill out an adoption application on our website. If you need to have an adoption application sent to you please contact us at 516-828-1177, please leave a message and a volunteer will get back to you shortly.
Once we have reviewed your application we will contact you to go over it and to set up a home visit. One of our volunteers will visit you at your home. We try our very best to place the right dog with the right family and their needs, i.e. other dogs, cats, children, etc. We strongly recommend that our adopters have a fenced yard to assure the safety of the dog.
Some adoptions happen very quickly, within a few days, others take time. We will keep your application on file and when we get in new dogs we evaluate them and see if we have a family who is a good fit for them.
The Adoption fee and donations go directly to the care and re-homing of all the rescued dogs. We could not do what we do without the generous help of these donations. All our dogs are evaluated, and then taken to our vets for a health exam. They are minimally given all needed shots, heartworm, fecal tests and treated accordingly for any issues they may have. Dogs are spayed or neutered as well. If a dog needs to through the lengthy and costly heartworm treatment - we cover the associated costs, plus food and boarding. Any dogs coming from the south are on PAID transport - which is constantly increasing.
If, for whatever reason, something happens where you and your family can no longer care for your rescued dog, we ask that you contact us and we will take the dog back and find it another home.
NYSRR reserves the right to refuse any adoption application.
